Petronella Phillips Devaney

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor with over twenty years experience of working in both organisational and NHS settings, and also in my own private practice based in Central London.

I studied and trained in analytical psychotherapy, psychodynamic counselling, and holistic healing at SoPH (the Society for Psychology and Healing) and I have a post-qualifying master’s degree in Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. I have undergone additional training in mindfulness based therapies and relationship counselling. In 2014 I completed an externship in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) to enhance my work with couples and families, and I now have membership of ICEEFT (International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy).   As a fully registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and an accredited member of the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society), I work to these professional bodies’ codes of ethics.

My special interests as a therapist include Jungian psychology, psycho-spiritual and psycho-sexual therapies. I am privileged to work with my clients across a full spectrum of presenting issues, ranging from life crises concerning illness, relationship breakdown, bereavement and loss, employment, domestic violence and sexual issues including sexually compulsive behaviour and it’s impact on relationships, to anxiety, trauma and PTSD, depression, work related stress,  addictions and personality disorders. Many of my clients come to me seeking accompaniment in their journey of personal and spiritual development. My style is integrative, focusing on the needs of each client, couple or group as unique and individual.

My consultancy work with organisations stems from more than two decades of specialising in the public and non-profit sectors. I studied management at London University, and I am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. I work with organisations and companies to help management teams understand the professional and personal dynamics that underpin success and productivity.

In addition to my work with clients, I write and give seminars and workshops on a range of Jungian themes, and I am a published novelist and poet. A deep fascination with people and their stories lies at the heart of everything I do as a writer, therapist, and consultant.
